A Place Where Believers, Non Believers, and Suffering can come and seek refuge

Bi-Polar

This winter in Minnesota has been one of the calmest winters that I can remember. Constantly in the 30s to 40s and every once in a while a 50 degree sneaks in. However, randomly inserted in the nice weather is a couple mornings with less than 1/4 inches of snow, and one or two days of 1-2 inches of snow! If I were to describe this winter I would call it a chilly fall with a hint of bi-polar!

But if you think about it, that is exactly how the Christian walk is! There is the perceived way of what it should be like, but every once in a while it has the hint of bi-polar in it. We have our good and great days where all we want to do is listen to Christian music/read our Bibles/or praying. We want to worship the Lord with all we have on those days, but then we have those other days where we have no desire to do any of that. Instead all we want to do is hang out with friends/watch tv/play xbox/or just sleep.

Good news is, that is totally normal! If you are like this to a tee don’t think you are going to hell over it because you aren’t! Instead of worrying why you’re like this, think about ways to train yourself to want to seek after God everyday! And it won’t happen over night, but the change will occur if you make that effort!

Old But Young

Well yesterday I turned 22 years old and the word “old” is a big part of that! Now I know 22 isn’t old per say but it is weird to see how fast the years go by!

Now just because my body is slowly declining as every second passes by, that doesn’t mean my faith is the same way!

You see when you get older and as your body is continuously on the way down, our faith is always getting stronger, our mission from God is always getting closer to its goal! We are called to be workman for the highest authority which is God!

So during your next birthday, instead of thinking about how old you are and how your one year closer to your death, think about how your mission and faith can grow and expand in ways you never thought possible!

We may be declining physically as every year passes by, but we are on the incline when it comes to our faith and our spiritual journey!

Where Is Your Identity Found?

Where is your identity found?

I’m sitting here at Camp Forest Springs in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin, and we Grace Church youth group just had their second session on Identity and where do you find it. Brian Points talked this morning and hit some HUGE points home with the students and myself included!

Where are you placing your identity?

Is it sports? Is it girls/boys? Is it in ur popularity?

Now don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with sports, the opposite sex, or wanting people to like you! However, if that is what you are putting all your time into and you are usuong those things as your main purpose in life, then that isn’t going to do you any good!

I used to put my identity in girls, sports, and wanting to be popular, that was my key focus in life, but once my life started falling apart, once sports stopped happening cause of my knee problems, I didn’t know where to look and because of that I lost all reason to follow God and to go to church!

But after a few tough years of trying to search for my true identity (which was in Christ) I found out that God was ALL I needed!

You see when Jesus is your identity, everything else falls into place and things start working out for the better!

My identity is in Christ and He is the ONLY thing that won’t fade away or disappear!

Praise HIS name!

God Is Able

“God is able, in His name we overcome! For our God is able!”

There is nothing that our Lord cannot do!

- He is able to change lives around from the deepest pits and make them new!

-He is able to heal the sick!

-He is able to feed the starving!

-He is able to give shelter to the homeless!

Do you believe that He can do that?

If no, then I dare you to! See what God will do through your belief!

Random Thoughts

Can you grasp that I am no longer my past?

I am a new me. The tree is what set me free,

Because you see that the Lord was and is and always will be.

He has redeemed my life and made me new,

And now I am purified all the way through.

But here it comes, here comes the truth,

My pain and sorrow no longer define,

What can be capable through the divine.

Nothing will hold me back,

Nothing will keep me silent.

All the devil does is seek destroy and kill,

he is nothing but violent.

I am His and His alone,

And my heart is set free, no longer like stone.

As Hebrews 12:2 says,

I am seated at the right hand of the Heavenly throne.

My God Is A God…

MY God is a God who SAVES!

Yup, we serve an AMAZING God!

Back To Reality

If you read my post from yesterday called “Chicago” then you know that I was able to come down to Chicago to surprise my younger sister for an “early” birthday party! I left Minnesota at 11:45pm Friday night and arrived in downtown Chicago the next morning at 7:45am! I was able to be with my sister for all of yesterday and some of today before boarding the Megabus to head back to reality.

I have been sitting in the upper level of this bus for 7 hours and was able to do some homework, sleep, and listen to music. But I got to thinking, how often do we as believers take “a weekend vacation” away from our “reality”? How often to we say, “I have been reading my Bible and praying daily for a long time now, and so I am going to take some time off and enjoy life.”? I know I have said this before and because of my choice it became twice as hard as before to get back into the Word on a daily basis!

Maybe it is time to step back into reality and get back to where you left off? And for some of you reading this, maybe you never even got started. Well there is no greater time than now to begin the journey!

Chicago

So I am sitting here in Deerfield, Illinois with my younger sister Courtney and her boyfriend Casey at a Starbuck’s and we all are doing our homework before going out tonight! I was able to COMPLETELY surprise my sister by taking the MegaBus to her campus last night and arriving this morning where her Casey picked me up! All without telling her! All of this was for her birthday weekend and we are going out to dinner tonight and having a surprise for her later on tonight that I can’t say because she may read this before tonight!  So she came into his apartment today at 2 in the afternoon and I came out of his room and she was like, “What? How did you get here?”!! SO I would say that today was a complete success in every way, shape, and form! I just felt like blogging about this ha sorry it isn’t really relevant to a God analogy/story, but I am just so excited I am here!

Jeremiah 24:7

I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart. (Jeremiah 24:7 ESV)

I saw a desk calendar the other day with this verse on it, and I immediately started smiling and realizing how true this is! When we seek after God on a consistent basis, we grow a heart for Him! We become His son or daughter and He becomes our Lord! What a promise!

When we seek after the Lord with our whole heart, He is at our side as our best friend and our biggest encouragement! Nothing can take that away no matter how much junk we are going through! What a God!

Blessings to you all!

Only One Thing Matters: Stop Arguing!

I am SICK about all the debates in the Christian circle now days that are all surrounded around theological issues that don’t impact whether or not we are saved!

Isn’t it the fact that the Lord of Lord’s and King of King’s came down to this earth to die for our sins and save us from going to Hell?

Aren’t we saved when we accept God into our hearts to reign over our lives?

Speaking in tongues, healing, prophecy, creation accounts, and baptism although great don’t hold any nature in us getting into Heaven! All that matters is our life of faithfulness to God our Lord in which we dedicate ourselves to growing in Him and spreading the good news of salvation and hope!

Praise God for that!

(DISCLAIMER: I believe that God allows different people with gifts of the Spirit, and I believe that it is important to have a belief in how the world was created, but I want to emphasize how there is more important things in life like salvation and knowing God as leader in your life!)

In Him,
Cameron
