Back To Reality

If you read my post from yesterday called “Chicago” then you know that I was able to come down to Chicago to surprise my younger sister for an “early” birthday party! I left Minnesota at 11:45pm Friday night and arrived in downtown Chicago the next morning at 7:45am! I was able to be with my sister for all of yesterday and some of today before boarding the Megabus to head back to reality.

I have been sitting in the upper level of this bus for 7 hours and was able to do some homework, sleep, and listen to music. But I got to thinking, how often do we as believers take “a weekend vacation” away from our “reality”? How often to we say, “I have been reading my Bible and praying daily for a long time now, and so I am going to take some time off and enjoy life.”? I know I have said this before and because of my choice it became twice as hard as before to get back into the Word on a daily basis!

Maybe it is time to step back into reality and get back to where you left off? And for some of you reading this, maybe you never even got started. Well there is no greater time than now to begin the journey!

So I am sitting here in Deerfield, Illinois with my younger sister Courtney and her boyfriend Casey at a Starbuck’s and we all are doing our homework before going out tonight! I was able to COMPLETELY surprise my sister by taking the MegaBus to her campus last night and arriving this morning where her Casey picked me up! All without telling her! All of this was for her birthday weekend and we are going out to dinner tonight and having a surprise for her later on tonight that I can’t say because she may read this before tonight! So she came into his apartment today at 2 in the afternoon and I came out of his room and she was like, “What? How did you get here?”!! SO I would say that today was a complete success in every way, shape, and form! I just felt like blogging about this ha sorry it isn’t really relevant to a God analogy/story, but I am just so excited I am here!

Jeremiah 24:7

I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart. (Jeremiah 24:7 ESV)

I saw a desk calendar the other day with this verse on it, and I immediately started smiling and realizing how true this is! When we seek after God on a consistent basis, we grow a heart for Him! We become His son or daughter and He becomes our Lord! What a promise!

When we seek after the Lord with our whole heart, He is at our side as our best friend and our biggest encouragement! Nothing can take that away no matter how much junk we are going through! What a God!

Only One Thing Matters: Stop Arguing!

I am SICK about all the debates in the Christian circle now days that are all surrounded around theological issues that don’t impact whether or not we are saved!

Isn’t it the fact that the Lord of Lord’s and King of King’s came down to this earth to die for our sins and save us from going to Hell?

Aren’t we saved when we accept God into our hearts to reign over our lives?

Speaking in tongues, healing, prophecy, creation accounts, and baptism although great don’t hold any nature in us getting into Heaven! All that matters is our life of faithfulness to God our Lord in which we dedicate ourselves to growing in Him and spreading the good news of salvation and hope!

Praise God for that!

(DISCLAIMER: I believe that God allows different people with gifts of the Spirit, and I believe that it is important to have a belief in how the world was created, but I want to emphasize how there is more important things in life like salvation and knowing God as leader in your life!)

SnoBiggee

Well back to reality after an amazing weekend of speaking at SnoBiggee Youth Retreat at Lake Beauty Bible Camp! My friend Josh and myself spoke on the topic of “Excessive Celebration” which highlighted the book of Philippians! So the Lord just took the weekend and rocked the students and the leaders! Through the quiet time and fellowship lives were changed! What a great way knowing that the Lord of Lord’s and King of King’s is always present and changing lives no matter what our current state is and no matter how much sin we have in our lives! He doesn’t desert or leave us! What a God! Thank you to all the students and leaders who made this weekend what it was! I definitely will NEVER forget you guys!

Thanksgiving

Either colleges are already out for Thanksgiving break, or they are going to be out within the next few days. That means thousands of students driving home all with the one goal of being around family and friends to celebrate a day of giving thanks. What are you thankful for? Have you taken time to think of what or who you are thankful for?

Blessings and safe travels to all those traveling either this weekend or early next week and blessings on family time and a little bit of free time from studying and stress.

Give It All

There comes a time in life where you just have to give EVERYTHING that you have in your life that is against God’s will over to Him. The coolest thing about the Lord and the Holy Spirit is that they are CONSTANTLY in the business of changing lives around! They never have left anyone’s side and they never have said “no” to anyone.

My life is far from perfect and my life still has its ups and downs, but it is the fact that I know that the Lord is constantly working in my life to make me a better man of God constantly! I have faith that He never will leave me and never will desert me, not matter how far away from Him I fall or go! Praise be to His name for being that for me in my life. Praise also to His name for being that in your life! Trust in Him and believe, and your life will NEVER be the same!

Testimony

So I for the longest time have kept my testimony secret, I hadn’t really had any desire to tell people about my struggles, my problems, or my faults. Instead I just kept updating it for my own eyes and for my own growth. Little did I know though that what I needed to do was get the word out about what the Lord had brought me from. The pain that I had experienced and how the Lord NEVER left my side.

He was ALWAYS faithful and there to tell me that what I was doing wasn’t along His will and that it wasn’t what He liked seeing of me! However, stuck in my pride and stuck in my own sorrow and pain, I didn’t want to go after His will, instead I wanted to continue down the path or sin.

It wasn’t until last night that I was given the opportunity to share my testimony and my past to a bunch of people. It was the first time that the Lord used my situations to honor Him and glorify Him. I spoke to a group of students at my friend Samm Ellingson’s mom’s youth group in Apple Valley. I was able to share my heart and my struggles that I had gone through and still stuggle with to the kids with the hope of showing them that there is more to life than sports or friends or even to be honest family. God is all that matters and all that should matter, and I feel that God used to me share this message. Of course I am not perfect and my heart is still going through stuggles of my past on a daily basis, but the Lord especially this past few weeks has just been showing me on a continual basis that HE IS SOVERIGN and HE IS A REDEEMING GOD! Praise the Lord for using my testimony and my past struggles to show the students and adults there that God is who He says He is! He NEVER changes and NEVER is different!!! WHAT A PROMISE!

God WILL use times of the past to strengthen you and make your testimony something that will impact the lives of others! NO matter what you have done, you will ALWAYS be given opportunities to share your story which in turn will make His story worth it for someone who isn’t there quite yet!

Have you ever wanted a best friend who you can call on at ANY time of the day whether that is 2pm or 3am?

The only answer to have all this happen is Christianity
